Bective/Dunsany 2-14 | Drumconrath/Meath Hill 1-15

Yes

Bective/Dunsany 2-14, Drumconrath/Meath Hill 1-15.

The Bective/Dunsany combination u21 team had to wait until November 19th to play their first match against a strong Drumconrath/Meath Hill.

They had prepared well with challenges and training sessions under the guidance of Niall Flynn and his mentors Jack Grant, Sean Keating and Marty Mulhall.

Bective/Dunsany opened the scoring with a fine point but had to wait until injury time at the end of the game to lead again. This was due to the strong performance of a lively Drumconrath/Meath Hill side that can count themselves unlucky not to win this one. They charged into the lead with fine scores, accurate free taking and strong midfield running, one of which from Ryan Owens produced a fine goal. But Bective/Dunsany kept in touch and went in for the break only 3 points behind with 0-9 to 1-9

Bective/Dunsany started the second half with a strong determination to get back on parity and took the game to Drumconrath/Meath Hill. The sides exchanged points from play but found it difficult to create space and relied on their respective free takers for their scores. It took many attacks and two missed goal chances before Bective/Dunsany hauled themselves level with a penalty goal from Cathal Murphy and a converted free from the side-line from Cathal Mc Connell on the stroke of full time.

Time taken to treat a leg injury to a Drumconrath/Meath Hill player was allowed for by the referee and they carried the ball up field again and pointed another free kick. But Bective/Dunsany showed their resolve and attacked in force to create a goal from Pierre Fox after a good block by the goalie. There was only time for one more play but unfortunately it was marred by a skirmish and a red card for a Drumconrath/Meath Hill player and the resultant free kick for Bective/Dunsany went wide. However, time was up and the ref blew on the kick out.

Bective/Dunsany now go on to play Dunderry in the semi-final
