Dunsany, in their navy strip, introduced veteran Ger O'Neill for David Hobson, but it was cortown who started the stronger and went 2 points ahead inside the opening 4 minutes.  A great free flowing moved was finished off by Kevin Keena to half the deficit. Both teams were guilty of wasting chances and squandering possession. Dunsany brought on Eoin Marsh to try influence more around the middle third. Cortown added to their tally 12 minutes later , which would prove to be their final score.

In the 45th minute Dunsany put together a superb team goal started off by wing back Padraig Maguire and finished by Cathal Murphy.

The game became ragged after this with again both sides missing chances to extened and reduce the score. The game also became niggly with both sides guilty of this. This resulted in Dunsany corner back recieveing a 2nd yellow 3 minutes before the end of normal time. Cortown failed to executed the resulting free and the men in navy responsed in the perfect way when Smyth broke forward and finished to the net.
